For some Thunderbird problems, the only way out is to start over!

Thunderbird allows you to do this by creating a new "Profile".

This procedure should only be followed if you have been instructed to do so by Waisman Computing Services staff; or if you are a particularly brave/foolish person.

We will use the Thunderbird Profile Manager to achieve a fresh start.
Open the Profile Manager
Open the Profile Manager
The Thunderbird Profile Manager can be found at

Start>
   All Programs>
      Waisman Applications>
         Mozilla>
            TB Profile Manager
Step 1. - Create a Profile...
Step 1. - Create a Profile...
Step 2. - Click Through...
Step 2. - Click Through...
Step 3. and 4. - Give it a Name...
Step 3. and 4. - Give it a Name...
...we recommend calling it "Fresh".
Step 5. - Start Thunderbird
Step 5. - Start Thunderbird
After Thunderbird starts, you will have to re-do any customized settings that you had before. Waisman Computing Services staff can help transfer your address book to your Fresh profile.
